Excitingly, it is now available in English for the first time. One of its primary objectives is to furnish the public with authoritative information on air and water quality as well as industrial emissions. Visualizing this crucial data through dynamic maps aids users in making informed daily decisions. Additionally, the app acts as a platform for public engagement, enabling citizens to report pollution incidents and offenders, while also equipping consumers with information required to embrace eco-friendly consumption habits.

1. Authoritative and comprehensive environmental data and dynamic maps:

   • Air quality & forecasts
   • Data on six air quality indicators sourced from over 2000 air quality monitoring stations in China and over 5000 additional monitoring stations worldwide. This includes air quality rankings, hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly statistics concerning air pollution and smog monitoring. Users can benefit from dynamic air quality data visualization maps illustrating past three-day air quality trends for China alongside global monitoring data. The app also provides alerts for heavy smog occurrences in China.

   • Data sourced from more than 8000 surface water quality monitoring stations across China
   • Pollution source emissions
   • Real-time emissions data covering over 9000 significant air emissions and wastewater pollution sources, including detailed daily average value analysis

2. Interactive channels enhancing environmental quality and promoting green consumption practices:

   • “Micro-reporting” mechanism to expose offenders: Users can report non-compliant factory emissions via Weibo or WeChat moments, tagging the official Weibo accounts of local environmental protection authorities to raise awareness.
   • “Foul & filthy” rivers module: Direct reporting of polluted urban waters to official platforms through the Blue Map app
   • “Green choice” consumer action platform: Provides environmental performance rankings for popular brands and products. Users can express preferences towards favored or underperforming brands, then share these insights with friends on WeChat and Weibo to encourage sustainable consumption practices.
   • Interactive sharing wall: A wall designed for users to post images related to blue sky days, pollution, smog, or other pertinent issues aimed at promoting environmental awareness and exposing pollution instances.
